The Reason

Welcome to Catherine's Cache.

I am an aspiring writer. Well, I am more than an aspiring writer. I AM a writer. I proudly announced this to a friend recently and was met by a puzzled look. I returned the look in amazement. Clearly, she just didn't get it. Long seconds passed before she said, 'What do you mean? Have you been published?'. I was truly perplexed. Why didn't she just accept that I was a writer?

This is why I started this Blog: in the hope that, in some small pathetic way, having a Blog may be viewed by the unenlightened as being 'published'...

About Me

I am middle aged. My partner is Stuart. I have no children of my own but I do share 2 stepchildren and 4 nieces and nephews. I love words. In 2008, my partner and I purchased a 200 year old stone house and 5 acres of forest surrounding it in Piemonte, Italy. We spent the next year dreaming about it before we tossed our global careers to the wind and moved there. We knew we didn't have enough money to last long but we wanted to test our dream to see if it really was everything we thought it would be. It was. Far too quickly our money ran out so we returned to the Pacific and worked 2 years in Australia and 1 year in Papua New Guinea. We have recently counted our pennies again, resigned and returned to our little slice of history in Italy. I write about the challenges that beset us here and the joy of the simple lifestyle that is our dream...
